Pernille Ripp has been a 4th, 5th, and now 7th grade teacher in Oregon, Wisconsin where she gets to inspire students to take control of their learning journey on a daily basis. She is also the creator of the Global Read Aloud (www.globalreadaloud.com), a literacy initiative that has connected more than 200,000 students since 2010 through the use of technology. Her first book was this May published this March by Powerful Learning Press titled "Passionate Learners - Giving Our Classrooms Back to Our Students." Her work has also been featured by Edutopia, School Library Journal, Learning & Leading magazine, as well as in many podcasts and interviews. She teaches others how to give the classroom back to students through webinars, and to anyone who will listen.
She is actively involved in furthering professional development worldwide through the creation of EdCampMadWI, as well as being a trainer, writer, and speaker, both in-person and virtually. Always looking to change the way education is done to kids, she blogs regularly at “Blogging Through the Fourth Dimension.” Named a Microsoft Hero of Education, a place in the top 6 “Most Innovative Educator in America” by GOOD, as well as a finalist for Elementary Educator of the Year by the Bammy Awards, her biggest prize are her 4 children as well as the love from her husband.
